Many of you already plant triticale as part of your forage program. SlickTrit II is an advanced, awnletted (beardless) variety from the original wheat/rye cross. Tests have shown for years that triticale usually has a 20- 30% advantage in forage tonnage over straight wheat. It can be planted earlier and grazed up to 3 weeks longer than wheat, giving the grower a distinct advantage in grazing, baling, and silage.
Over the years, Watley Seed has used data from the New Mexico State University research center in Clovis, NM forage trials to evaluate the performance of our SlickTrit II triticale. All these trials can be found **here**.

As you decide what is best for your operation, we want to highlight a four year dollar advantage SlickTrit II has had over leading competitors. Table 1 on the next page shows the dollar advantage SlickTrit II has in wet silage tonnage at 65% moisture and $50 per wet ton. We realize market prices vary depending on location.

Table 2 shows two years of milk #/acre with added dollar values. Again, milk prices vary daily so you can figure numbers using your price. We used $18/cwt representing the current cash price. This dollar amount clearly shows the advantage SlickTrit II has over its closest competitors and this information is what we wanted to convey to you.
